Agartala, 29th November 2025: A grassroots initiative under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) is opening new avenues of self-reliance for rural women in Kalyanpur block.
Since November 16, the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) has been running a specialised bag-making training programme at the Joydeep View office near Soronjoy Choudhury Para School in West Ghilatali Gram Panchayat.
Thirty women, many juggling family tasks and daily challenges have been attending the sessions with remarkable dedication. Guided by a master trainer from Manu in Dhalai district, the participants are learning the essentials of producing market-ready bags.
Officials of TRLM said the initiative is aimed at equipping rural women with income-generating skills that contribute to long-term economic empowerment. They noted that such capacity-building efforts play a significant role in strengthening the foundations of self-reliant communities.
Several trainees expressed optimism that the training will help them earn independently and support their families. They also urged the government to ensure continuous handholding so that their new skills can translate into sustainable livelihoods.
