Agartala, 1st December 2025: Former MP and senior BJP leader Rebati Tripura today has levelled strong allegations against Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarman, claiming that his newly launched “One North East” campaign is designed to misguide the people of the region.
During a press briefing on Monday, Rebati argued that Pradyot’s latest initiative—backed by leaders of what he called “unsuccessful regional parties”—is an attempt to mask a growing “political identity crisis.” He said that statements made at the recent Tipra Motha gathering at Stable Ground under the One North East banner were “provocative” and “mutually contradictory.”
Rebati maintained that Pradyot’s boldness stems from the political space created during BJP rule but accused him of reigniting old divisive agendas at a time when Tripura is witnessing “much-needed stability and peace.”
He further criticized regional parties, saying they often lack durability and are formed around “short-lived emotional issues” to sway public opinion. According to Rebati, Pradyot’s earlier demands for Tipraland and Greater Tipraland have now conveniently disappeared, adding that the new campaign is merely a tactic to stay relevant. “His political stances keep shifting. What he preached during his Congress days is different from what he advocates today. A decade later, he might again dismiss his own actions,” he said.
Turning his attention to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), the former MP alleged financial disorder, lack of transparency, and non-compliance with constitutional norms. He demanded a full-scale financial audit, claiming that development under the council exists “only in name.”
Rebati also dismissed calls for separate statehood or special constitutional protections for tribal areas, saying such demands are unrealistic given Tripura’s limited geographical size.
