Agartala, 3rd December 2025: The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has announced a major infrastructure expansion worth ₹16.60 crore, being implemented through the Rural Development Department, TREDA, and the Horticulture Department.
A review meeting on the ongoing construction projects was held on Wednesday at the TRLM State Office, chaired by CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS.
According to officials, the Rural Development Department is constructing three large poultry farms and six modern piggery farms at an estimated cost of ₹5.12 crore. TREDA will establish 200 solar-powered units for Self Help Group (SHG) members with an investment of ₹7.76 crore, while the Horticulture Department is developing modern polyhouses worth ₹3.20 crore.
Preparations are intensifying for the upcoming Saras Mela, tentatively scheduled to begin on 13 December. A joint site inspection was conducted at Hapania Ground, led by the TRLM CEO and attended by ADM West, Dy CEO TRLM, SDPO Amtali, DySP Traffic, DFO Fire Service, AMC officials, RD engineers, and representatives from ONGC, ICA, Health, and DMC West Tripura.
This year’s mega fair will host 400 stalls, including 335 for SHG members from Tripura and other states. The remaining 65 stalls will be allocated to government departments such as Police, Health, and Information & Cultural Affairs.
To enhance the festive atmosphere, eight grand entry gates will be installed across the city, supported by extensive district-wide publicity. Thousands of SHG “didis” from across India are expected to participate in the two-week event.
In a significant announcement, TRLM declared that it will organize a dedicated Food Saras Fair in January 2026, where thousands of SHGs will exhibit and sell a variety of food items and food-based products—marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state.
