Agartala, 4th December 2025 : A migrant worker engaged in gas pipeline construction was critically injured after being hit by a dumper truck in the Churaibari police station area this afternoon. The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
Locals informed that the incident took place around 12 noon near the Sales Tax Bypass. The dumper, bearing registration number TR01AT-1821, was reversing when it struck the worker, who was employed on the Silchar–Agartala gas pipeline project. The impact caused the truck’s wheel to run over his waist, leaving him severely injured and bleeding on the national highway.
Local residents immediately alerted Kadamtala fire service personnel, who rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to Kadamtala Social Hospital. He was later referred to Silchar for advanced treatment. Fellow workers reported that his condition remains critical.
The injured worker has been identified as Shyam Das (38), son of Ramsukhit Das, a resident of Veli village in Madhubani district, Bihar. He was employed under Shivshakti Construction.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that the dumper driver abandoned the vehicle and fled after the accident. An investigation into the incident is underway.
