Tripura Police Seize Heroin and Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 2.5 Crore; Three Arrested

Agartala, 12th December 2025: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, the Tripura Police under Ambassa Police Station in Dhalai district conducted a successful night operation, resulting in the seizure of drugs valued at over Rs 2.5 crore and the arrest of three individuals.

According to SDPO Nirupam Datta, the operation was initiated following a credible tip-off that a Bolero vehicle carrying illegal substances was en route to Agartala via Ambassa.

“Acting swiftly, police teams set up surveillance and intercepted the vehicle at the Upanagar Naka checkpoint. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 137 soap cases containing approximately 1.836 kg of heroin, along with 10,000 yaba tablets. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 2.5 crore on the black market,” SDPO Datta stated.All three occupants of the vehicle were apprehended on the spot.“Further investigation is ongoing to identify the wider network involved in this trafficking operation,” he added.
