Agartala, 12th December 2025: AD Nagar police have arrested two youths accused of snatching a woman’s gold chain from a shop under the pretext of buying ice cream. The incident took place on October 30 in the Sripalli area of Badharghat.
According to the complaint filed by Sanjay Saha, his mother was alone at their shop when a young man entered and asked for ice cream. As she moved to serve him, the youth suddenly grabbed the gold chain from her neck and fled.
Acting on the complaint, AD Nagar police launched an investigation and arrested two suspects from the Ichhaibazar area. OC Sushanta Deb confirmed that the accused were produced before court today.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Prashanta Shil and Biswanath Dutta. Police said they are interrogating the duo to determine whether they are linked to a larger network of thefts or snatching incidents.
