Agartala, 16th December 2025:   A devastating fire broke out on Tuesday at the residence of retired forest guard Anil Acharya, located in Ward No. 1 of Ambedkar Nagar Gram Panchayat under Kumarghat police station. The blaze completely gutted 14 rooms of the house, reducing them to ashes.

Three fire engines from Kumarghat, Pecharthal, and Kanchanbari rushed to the spot and managed to bring the flames under control. However, despite their efforts, the damage was extensive.

The estimated loss is reported to be over Rs 2 crore. Following the incident, a Tehsildar from the local administrative office visited the site, but no other officials have been seen in the area so far.

The family, consisting of Anil Acharya, his wife, and three daughters (two of whom are married), has been left deeply distressed by the tragedy. In addition, a team of seven tenants residing in the house has also been affected.
