Agartala, 16th December 2025:   A valuable tree located behind the Pandabpur Anganwadi Kendra has been illegally cut down by miscreants, sparking outrage among local residents.

Reportedly, the Anganwadi Kendra was established years ago on land donated by a local resident. Over time, a valuable tree grew behind the centre, becoming a part of the premises. However, in a shocking incident, a group of forest offenders felled the tree without any permission from the Forest Department.

Witnesses stated that the tree was chopped into pieces and left behind the centre. The act is a clear violation of forest protection laws, which mandate prior approval from the Forest Department before cutting any tree.

Former Anganwadi helper Usha Rani Das expressed her dismay, saying that during her tenure she never allowed anyone to lay hands on the tree. “No matter who owns the land, cutting a tree without government approval is unlawful. Those responsible have committed a grave injustice,” she said.

The incident has triggered widespread anger across Pandabpur. Locals have demanded strict legal action against those involved, urging the Forest Department to intervene immediately.

As the news spreads, all eyes are now on the Forest Department to see what steps will be taken against the offenders.
