Agartala, 20th December 2025 : Kailashahar witnessed the formal release of a publication documenting four years of developmental initiatives undertaken by the Kailashahar Municipal Council. The event was held at Unakoti Kalakshetra and inaugurated by Social Welfare and Social Education minister Tinku Roy, who lit the ceremonial lamp.
The program was attended by Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das, SDM Bipul Das, Kailashahar Municipal Council chairperson Chapala Debroy, Chandipur Panchayat Samiti chairperson Sampa Das Pal, Zilla Parishad member Bimal Kar, along with other elected representatives and officials. The welcome address was delivered by CEO of Kailashahar Municipal Council and SDM Bipul Das.
The released book highlights achievements in urban development, infrastructure building, civic services, and social welfare projects carried out over the past four years.
Speaking at the event, Minister Tinku Roy remarked, “Kailashahar is one of the oldest towns in the state, yet despite 35 years of successive governments, the desired level of development never materialized. Even today, we cannot host large-scale events here due to the lack of infrastructure to accommodate even 100 people at once. The present government is committed to ensuring development across the state, not just in Agartala. To address this gap, construction of a youth hostel with a seating capacity of 1,000 has already begun near the DIET College in Kailashahar. Within six months to a year, this project will be completed, enabling major events to be organized here.”
On environmental conservation, the minister emphasized the importance of sustainable practices. He noted that traditional cremations consume large amounts of firewood, leading to deforestation. To counter this, a modern electric crematorium has been built in Kailashahar, which will eliminate the need for firewood and play a vital role in protecting the environment.
Minister Roy stressed the need to advance development and environmental protection simultaneously, describing the Municipal Council’s four-year record as a foundation for future planning.
The event also felicitated several organizations and individuals, including Kailashahar Press Club, Kailashahar Blood Donors Association, Kailashahar Press Club, and senior journalist Anupam Bhattacharjee.
