Agartala, 22nd December 2025: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury chaired the 17th Road Safety Council meeting today. The meeting, which is held quarterly by the Transport Department, saw the participation of IG Law and Order, SP Traffic, and other officials from the Transport Department. District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from all eight districts joined virtually.
During the meeting, various key decisions were discussed, including measures to reduce road accidents across the state. Minister Chowdhury highlighted the “Rah Veer Scheme” introduced by the Central Government, under which financial assistance for individuals saving accident victims has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000. Today, eight individuals were felicitated under this scheme for their bravery in saving accident victims.
The Minister further informed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, another meeting will be held soon. All DMs and SPs have been directed to submit detailed reports on road safety measures. Discussions were also held on strategies to reduce road accidents and enhance public safety, with officials providing valuable suggestions.
Minister Chowdhury emphasized, “Together, we will work to decrease the number of road traffic accidents and ensure the safety of people on our roads.”
