Agartala, 24th December 2025:   A Bajaj showroom in Tripura has come under serious allegations of selling more than 500 auto-rickshaws without obtaining mandatory government approval or transport permits. The issue has sparked widespread distress among hundreds of auto drivers across the state.

Today, members of the Mazdoor Monitoring Cell lodged an FIR against the company at Agartala’s East Police Station, accusing the showroom of bypassing official regulations.

According to the complaint, the vehicles were sold without clearance from the Transport Department, leaving drivers under financial and psychological strain. Many auto workers reported daily harassment from traffic police due to the lack of valid permits.

Drivers further alleged that thousands of rupees were collected from them under the pretext of issuing permits, yet many have still not received legal documentation. As a result, they face constant difficulties while operating on the roads.

Mazdoor Monitoring Cell president Biplab Kar condemned the alleged irregularities, stating that government rules were blatantly ignored. He demanded an immediate investigation and strict action against those responsible. Kar also urged authorities to shut down the Bajaj showroom until a proper inquiry is completed and appealed to the state’s Transport Minister to intervene in the matter.
