Smart Panchayat building inaugurated at Tarakpur

Agartala, 24th December 2025:   In a bid to modernize and make the Panchayati system more people-centric, a significant event was held this afternoon at the Tarakpur Gram Panchayat office premises. The occasion marked the inauguration of North Tripura’s first and only Smart Panchayat Building.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Aparna Nath, Sabhadhipati of the Uttar Tripura Zilla Parishad, who cut the ribbon as the chief guest. In her address, she emphasized that the Smart Panchayat Building would make rural administration more transparent, technology-driven, and accessible to the public. “This initiative will ensure faster delivery of services and accelerate the pace of rural development,” she said.

The event also featured the launch of the Vikshit Bharat – G RAM G programme under the Government of India’s Livelihood Mission. Through a Gram Sabha, villagers were informed about the objectives of the scheme, which aims to strengthen the rural economy, build self-reliant villages, and create employment opportunities.

Special guests included Sanjib Debnath, Kadamtala Block Development Officer; Mihir Ranjan Nath, Chairman of Kadamtala Panchayat Samiti; social worker Kajal Das; Bimala Purkayastha, along with several Panchayat Pradhans and Upa-Pradhans from the region.

A highlight of the day was the felicitation of meritorious students, encouraging them to pursue academic excellence. Additionally, baby bookshelves were distributed to Anganwadi centres to foster reading habits among children.

Local residents hailed the event as a milestone in Tarakpur’s journey of rural development, reflecting a new era of transparency, innovation, and community empowerment.
