Elderly Newspaper Vendor Killed in Tragic Road Accident in Kalyanpur

Agartala, 26th December 2025:   Kalyanpur witnessed a tragic road accident today morning in which an elderly newspaper distributor, Ajay Acharya, lost his life after being run over by a speeding truck.

The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. while Acharya was returning home after finishing his work at a ration shop. According to local sources, a truck moving at high speed suddenly lost control and crushed him under its wheels, killing him on the spot.

Ajay Acharya had been delivering newspapers on foot for many years and was a familiar and respected figure among residents of the area. He was known to many families, not just as a newspaper vendor but as a trusted and well-loved member of the community.

After the accident, local residents rushed to the spot and tried to rescue him. The fire brigade was informed and arrived promptly, taking him to Kalyanpur Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police reached the hospital soon after and have begun an investigation into the incident.

The tragic death has cast a pall of gloom over the local area. Members of the media community have also expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of the veteran newspaper distributor.
