Agartala, 26th December 2025:   Sonamura police have arrested Mannan Choudhury, the owner of a de-addiction centre located in the Dhaliyai area, along with his associate Pranab Acharya, following serious allegations against the facility.

According to police sources, Mannan Choudhury is a resident of NC Nagar Ward No. 4, while the co-accused Pranab Acharya hails from the Madhuban area. The Officer-in-Charge of the police station stated that an administrative raid was conducted after multiple complaints were lodged against the de-addiction centre.

During the raid, it was revealed that the centre had been operating illegally for a long time. The accused allegedly collected large sums of money from people while failing to provide proper food and medical treatment to patients. Investigations further uncovered instances of mental and physical abuse inflicted on patients admitted to the centre.

Following these revelations, a case was registered against both individuals, and they were taken into custody. The administration has stated that a detailed investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The accused were produced before the court on Friday.
