Pradyot Manikya Slams Uttarakhand Govt, Announces Rs 10 Lakh Reward in Anjel Chakma Murder Case

Agartala, 29th December 2025:   Royal scion of Tripura and founder of the Tipra Motha Party, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, on Monday strongly criticized the Uttarakhand government for announcing a cash reward of ₹25,000 for information leading to the arrest of the main accused in the killing of Anjel Chakma, calling the amount “insulting” and “a mockery of justice.”

In a sharp rebuttal, Pradyot announced a ₹10 lakh reward from his own pocket for any credible information that helps locate and arrest the prime suspect.

Anjel Chakma, a 24-year-old MBA student from Tripura’s Unakoti district, was allegedly attacked on December 9 in Dehradun after he objected to racial slurs directed at his younger brother, Michael Chakma. Anjel later succumbed to his injuries.

Reacting to reports that the Uttarakhand government had declared a reward of only ₹25,000, Pradyot questioned the value placed on the victim’s life. “Is this the value of Anjel Chakma’s life? Is this a joke?” he asked. “If a state government can announce a reward of just ₹25,000 for a murder accused, it reflects a complete disregard for our people.”

Announcing his own reward, Pradyot said the money would be paid for verified information about the accused’s whereabouts.“I will provide this reward from my own pocket,” he said, “but don’t make fun of our people.”
