Agartala, 1st January 2026 :   At the start of the new year, South Tripura Superintendent of Police, IPS Moria Krishna C, presented a detailed review of law and order in the district during 2025, highlighting significant achievements in crime reduction and community policing.

According to official data, overall crime in South Tripura fell sharply last year. While 349 cases were registered in 2024, the number dropped to 268 in 2025 — a decline of 23.5 percent. Crimes involving physical assault decreased by 45.34 percent, and offences against women fell by 27.27 percent, reflecting improved policing and stronger law enforcement.

Community engagement also saw notable progress. The number of “Prayas” meetings aimed at strengthening police-public relations rose by 34 percent, helping build greater trust between citizens and law enforcement.

Road safety improved as well. Road accidents declined by 15.62 percent, while fatal accidents dropped by 41.4 percent. Enhanced enforcement of traffic laws led to higher fines and more license suspensions. Meanwhile, anti-narcotics operations intensified, with an increase in NDPS cases and large quantities of drugs seized.

Superintendent Krishna emphasized that these successes align with the Chief Minister’s “Nesha Mukt Tripura Abhiyan” (Drug-Free Tripura Campaign) and the state police’s modernization policy. Looking ahead, he said the district police will focus on further crime suppression, strengthening anti-narcotics drives, and expanding technology-driven policing in 2026.
