199 Battalion BSF celebrates 29th Raising Day at Panisagar

Agartala, 1st January 2026 :   The 199 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) marked its 29th Raising Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the Sector Headquarters in Panisagar on Thursday. The celebration, held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., reflected the battalion’s rich regimental traditions and unwavering commitment to national security.

The event was graced by DIG Rajiv Vatsaraj, Sector Headquarters, BSF Panisagar; Commandant Atul Saini, 199 Battalion BSF; Tamal Majumdar, District Magistrate, Unakoti; Bhakt Darshan Shah, Second-in-Command; Arvind Biala, Deputy Commandant, 199 Battalion; and Sangram Biswal, Deputy Commandant (Medical). Senior officers, jawans, and their family members also joined the celebration.

In their addresses, DIG Rajiv Vatsaraj and Commandant Atul Saini extended heartfelt greetings to all ranks of the battalion. They praised the dedication, discipline, and operational excellence of the personnel, urging them to continue serving the nation with the highest standards of professionalism and responsibility.

To honor exceptional performance in 2025, trophies and certificates of appreciation were awarded across various categories. Notably, ‘C’ Company was adjudged the Best Company of the Year, recognized for its outstanding discipline and operational achievements.

The Raising Day also featured vibrant cultural performances by BSF jawans, showcasing the force’s unity, talent, and high morale. Musical and artistic presentations added color to the occasion, with participating groups receiving mementos from the chief guest.

Commandant Atul Saini welcomed the guests and highlighted the battalion’s long-standing record of sacrifice, success, and service. He expressed gratitude to the jawans for their hard work and to their families for their unwavering support.

The celebrations concluded with a “Barakhana” (community feast), strengthening camaraderie and brotherhood among officers, jawans, and their families.

The 29th Raising Day of the 199 Battalion BSF will be remembered as a testament to the force’s steadfast commitment, discipline, and indomitable spirit in safeguarding the nation’s borders.
