South Tripura Police Seize 240 Sarees in Joint Operation with BSF

Agartala, 12th January 2026 :  In a significant recovery, South Tripura District Police, in a joint operation with the 69 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), seized 240 sarees from an abandoned location at Bagantilla in the Gaurangabazar area.

The operation was conducted by SI Rupsadhan Jamatia, OC SRP OP, along with police staff, in coordination with BSF personnel stationed at Khedabari. Authorities reported that no lawful claimant could be identified at the site, prompting the seizure of the sarees under Section 106 of the BNSS, following all due legal procedures in the presence of independent witnesses.

All recovered sarees were carefully inventoried, sealed, and secured for further investigation and legal proceedings. Officials confirmed that the seizure is part of ongoing efforts to prevent illegal trade and ensure proper legal action against those involved.
