Agartala, 12th January 2026 :   In the Shimul Toli area under the Fatikroy Assembly constituency, Tripura Police have taken swift action to maintain peace and order following recent incidents of violence. Continuous monitoring and proactive measures by the police have gradually restored normalcy in the region.

According to sources, some miscreants, exploiting the tension from the recent events in Shimul Toli, allegedly placed a statue bearing the Hindu symbol of ‘OM’ inside the Tarani Nagar Mosque late last night, in an attempt to incite communal tension. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot around 8 a.m. on January 12 and quickly removed the statue. While the incident temporarily created a tense atmosphere, prompt and vigilant action by the police helped control the situation swiftly.

Since last night, various rumors spread across Muslim-majority areas of Fatikroy, causing confusion and concern among the local population. However, the police have clarified that the situation is now completely under control and have urged people not to fall prey to misinformation or spread false news.

Authorities have also confirmed that additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order, and the force is fully prepared to handle any untoward incidents. The administration expressed confidence that the proactive measures of the police have restored calm and that the area will continue to remain peaceful.
