MP Biplab Kumar Deb highlights development projects worth over 14 crore in Tripura

Agartala, 15th January 2026:  Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb today outlined the extensive development initiatives he facilitated during his tenure as a Member of Parliament in both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.

Deb stated that the Government of India sanctions ₹5 crore annually for each MP of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. “Accordingly, I also had the opportunity to get the sanction of ₹5 crore during my tenures in both the houses. I have been for 1.5 years as MP in Rajya Sabha and 1.5 years as MP in Lok Sabha — a total of three years,” he said.

During his tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP, Biplab Kumar Deb facilitated 13 projects in Tripura amounting to ₹4,57,37,591. In the 2024–25 financial year as a Lok Sabha MP, he supported 7 projects worth ₹3,44,49,268, while in the 2025–26 financial year he oversaw 15 projects valued at ₹6,03,69,709. Altogether, Deb stated that he facilitated projects worth a total of ₹14,05,46,568 across both houses.

Deb emphasized that the sanctioned funds were directed towards diverse community needs, including the installation of 19 water treatment plants for schools, community centres, and market sheds, the construction of medical service buildings along with yoga and indoor halls, and the provision of ambulances as well as open gyms.

He added that apart from infrastructure projects, financial assistance under the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund (PMRF) was sanctioned for 14 individuals in Tripura, amounting to ₹32,40,249.

Deb also highlighted his role as a member of the Select Committee in Parliament, where he recorded a report titled “Evidence before the Select Committee on the IBC Amendment Bill 2025” in the Lok Sabha.
