Dead body found by roadside at Teliamura

Agartala, 16th January 2026:    Panic gripped residents of Maharani Pur Jarilang Bari area in Teliamura early this morning after a man’s body was found lying by the roadside.

Local sources informed that residents out on their morning walk spotted the dead body around 7 a.m. and immediately alerted the Fire Service Department. Officials rushed to the spot and recovered the body, later identified as Apu Debnath, 53.

Family members reported that Debnath had left home around 11 p.m. the previous night and did not return. As he often stayed outside, relatives initially did not raise concern.

Locals said blood marks were visible around his nose and mouth when the body was found. Fire Service personnel recovered the body and informed the police.

Police later sent the body for post-mortem examination and have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities are probing whether it was a natural death or if foul play was involved.
