Agartala, 16th January 2026: Agartala witnessed a significant step in civic infrastructure development today as the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) initiated construction of a new office building in Ward No. 31 under its Central Zone. The occasion was marked by a ‘bhumi pujan’ and foundation stone laying ceremony.
Tripura BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee formally laid the foundation stone, joined by AMC Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder. Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, Ward Councillor Anjana Das, elected representatives, municipal officials, and local residents were present, lending a celebratory atmosphere to the event.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Majumder said the new facility would streamline ward-level administration and ensure faster, more efficient delivery of public services. MP Bhattacharjee echoed the sentiment, noting that the office would strengthen grassroots governance and improve accessibility for citizens.
Alongside the ceremony, Bhattacharjee and Majumder also took part in a welfare initiative, distributing blankets to underprivileged residents of the locality. The gesture underscored the government’s dual focus on development and social welfare.
