Agartala, 18th January 2026: The Agartala Sports Journalists’ Club, the largest body of sports reporters and photojournalists in Tripura has announced that the 2025 edition of the Niljyoti Tripura Sports Honour award ceremony will be held on March 15 at the Agartala Press Club.
The decision was taken today at a crucial meeting of the club’s executive committee. As per the resolution, the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on March 15.
This year, distinguished athletes and sports organizers from six disciplines — football, cricket, yoga, athletics, gymnastics, and swimming — will be felicitated.
In addition, two of the club’s prestigious memorial awards, the Gautam Kar Bhowmik Memorial Award and the Biswajit Sharma Memorial Award will be conferred upon one sports journalist and one sports photojournalist from the state.
A landmark decision was also made to honour cricketers Moni Shankar Mura Singh, who recently played his 100th match for Tripura in the BCCI’s Ranji Trophy, and Annapurna Das, who achieved the same milestone in the women’s national cricket tournament.
The Niljyoti Tripura Sports Honour was instituted last year and enters its second edition in 2025.
