Agartala, 18th January 2026: The Tripura Human Rights Commission has sought a report from the Director of Health and Family Welfare after a body identified as Sagar who met with an accident died due to alleged negligence of hospital.
According to the report, a serious road accident occurred on Thursday afternoon last near Naukaghat under Bishalgarh Police Station, where a motorcycle and a vehicle collided head-on. The rider, identified as Sagar of Gakulnagar, Bhuiar Matha, sustained severe injuries to his chest and head.
Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services rushed Sagar to Bishalgarh Hospital. However, the victim’s family alleged that despite his critical condition, the on-duty medical officers neither provided proper primary treatment nor referred him to Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital for advanced care.
It was further alleged that no ECG, chest examination, or CT scan of the head was conducted. Shockingly, instead of initiating emergency procedures, one of the attending doctors reportedly asked the injured youth to return home.
After reaching home, Sagar reportedly became unconscious. By that time, Bishalgarh Hospital had already discharged its responsibility. His family then arranged a vehicle and rushed him to Hapania Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Medical examination revealed clear signs of serious injuries to his chest and head.
The report alleged that negligence by the on-duty medical officers directly contributed to Sagar’s death.

Before taking formal cognizance, the Commission has decided to seek a detailed report from the Director of Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tripura.
