Agartala, 19th January 2026: A tragic incident has sparked outrage in the Uttar Chebri area after a widow reportedly gave birth to a stillborn child under distressing circumstances. The woman has alleged that a local man, Anukul Pal, had been maintaining an illicit relationship with her over the past one and a half years.
According to the widow, for the past 15 days, Anukul Pal allegedly pressured her to terminate her pregnancy. Under immense psychological stress, she was reportedly compelled to take abortion-inducing medication provided by Pal, which led to severe illness. Eventually, the woman had to be admitted to Chebri Primary Health Center.
Initially, the widow did not disclose the full details of her condition to the attending doctors. However, after medical examinations, doctors discovered that she had been pregnant, and shortly thereafter, she gave birth to a stillborn child. The woman later revealed that she had buried the deceased child secretly.
News of the incident quickly spread, causing widespread anger among local residents. Community members have reportedly begun searching for Anukul Pal, who is currently in hiding. Locals claim that Pal has been involved in similar illicit relationships with other women in the area, causing significant harm to vulnerable women.
Residents expressed their outrage, stating that such individuals should not be allowed to remain in the community. The police and local administration have yet to comment on whether a formal case has been registered against Anukul Pal.
