Agartala, 19th January 2026 : The CPI(M)’s sub-divisional unit in Sonamura, along with its affiliated organizations, successfully carried out two separate programs in the town today, one in the morning and another in the evening.
In the morning, the program was organized under the banner of the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha as part of the nationwide resistance movement scheduled between January 16 and 26. Participants took an oath demanding the repeal of the Seed Bill 2025, the Electricity Bill 2025, and the new Labour Codes. The oath-taking ceremony was led by farmer leader Suresh Das.
Later in the evening, a convention was held in front of the CPI(M) Sonamura sub-divisional office in support of the upcoming nationwide general strike on February 12, 2026. The event was jointly organized by three mass organizations CITU, AIKS, and TKMU.
Leaders Amal Chakraborty and Shyamal Majumdar addressed the gathering, which saw the participation of nearly 200 activists and leaders from various organizations. Speakers emphasized the need for intensified preparations to counter what they described as anti-people policies of both the central and state governments.
The leaders urged activists to begin region-wise preparations immediately to ensure strong participation in the forthcoming strike and future movements.
