Agartala, 21st January 2026: A 25-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances just one and a half years into her marriage, triggering serious allegations of abuse and murder against her in-laws. The incident, reported from Maiganga under Teliamura police station, has caused widespread shock in the locality.
The deceased has been identified as Jhuma Biswas, wife of Biplab Biswas of Maiganga. Family sources informed that Jhuma suddenly fell ill while asleep late last night. She was rushed to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
However, questions have since arisen over the circumstances of her death. Relatives from her parental home allege they were neither informed about her deteriorating condition nor her hospitalization. They further claim that even the news of her death was initially withheld from them.
The victim’s family has accused her in-laws of subjecting her to continuous physical and mental abuse since her marriage, allegedly linked to dowry demands and family disputes. They insist this was not a natural death but a planned killing, pointing to injury marks reportedly found on her body.
Police from Teliamura station reached the hospital soon after receiving information and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Officials stated that the exact cause of death will be determined once the autopsy report is available. Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched to examine the role of the in-laws.
The sudden death of the young housewife has left the community unsettled, with residents questioning whether it was a tragic medical emergency or the result of prolonged domestic abuse.
