Agartala, 28th January 2026: In a landmark move to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Tripura’s janajati areas, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced today that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has sanctioned a 50-bedded Critical Care Block at Dhalai District Hospital under the PM-ABHIM scheme.
Dr Saha on his Facebook wrote that the project, estimated at Rs 23.75 crore, aims to bring advanced medical facilities closer to the people of Dhalai, reducing the need to travel long distances for critical treatment.
Dr. Saha who is also the health minister of the state emphasized the transformative impact of the new facility, stating, “This state-of-the-art block will significantly enhance trauma care, cardiac treatment, and management of other critical illnesses at the district level. It will ensure that patients receive timely and advanced care without the need to be referred to Agartala” , he said.
The Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda* for their visionary leadership and continuous efforts to expand healthcare access in Tripura’s tribal regions
