Agartala, 28th January 2026:   In a bid to boost agricultural productivity and promote modern farming practices, the farmer-friendly government has distributed advanced agricultural machinery in Gouranagar RD Block.

The distribution ceremony, held on Wednesday in front of the Gouranagar Panchayat Samiti Hall under the open sky, saw farmers receiving power weeders and spray machines. The event was attended by Gouranagar Panchayat Samiti Vice-Chairman Badruzzaman, BDO Nabarun Chakraborty, Superintendent of Agriculture Sandeep Pal, Deputy Director of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Soumen Nandi, along with Panchayat Samiti members and other elected representatives.

On this occasion, a total of 20 power weeders and 10 spray machines were handed over to farmers from various village panchayats under Gouranagar RD Block. Additionally, two farmers received other essential agricultural tools.

Speaking at the event, Vice-Chairman Badruzzaman highlighted that modern equipment is being supplied regularly to farmers across different panchayats to make vegetable cultivation and farming easier and more profitable. He informed that with this third phase of distribution, 55 power weeders have been provided so far, along with 17 power tillers across the block.

He further noted that although Gouranagar has vast areas suitable for paddy cultivation, traditional ploughing has almost disappeared, with most farmers now relying on power tillers. As demand for such machinery continues to rise, he urged the Agriculture Minister to ensure greater supply of power tillers and modern equipment, pointing out that current allocations remain insufficient compared to farmers’ needs.

Local farmers expressed satisfaction with the initiative, stating that access to modern machinery will not only ease their workload but also enhance productivity, thereby improving their financial prospects.
