Arkaneer launches training camp on self-reliance at Jawaharnagar, Ambassa

Agartala, 2nd February 2026 :   A two-week hands-on training programme in tailoring trade was inaugurated today at Jawaharnagar Training Centre, Ambassa, under the initiative of Arkaneer, managed by the NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT), Sekerkote, with financial support from the Indian Small Industries Development Bank (SIDB).

The camp, part of the Micro Enterprise Promotion Programme (MEPP), was formally opened with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The event was graced by chief guest Suresh Munda, Councillor of Ward No. 15, Jawharnagar, Ambassa Municipal Council, and special guest Subhash Nama Shudra, social worker of Jawharnagar.

Representatives from NBIRT and Arkaneer, including Project Officer Anup Dey, Senior Executives Nandan Chakraborty and Arun Acharya, IT In-charge Payel Debnath, and trainer Golapi Das, were present at the occasion.

The training will continue until February 16, with 30 women and young girls from different parts of Ambassa participating. Guests emphasized the importance of self-reliance and encouraged participants to utilize such opportunities. The trainees expressed gratitude to SIDB and praised Arkaneer for organizing the programme.

NBIRT has announced that the MEPP project will continue for the next five years, aiming to guide local youth and women of Dhalai district towards self-employment through small, micro, and medium enterprises. Activities under the Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) have already begun, with many youths showing keen interest in adopting new technologies.

Future training programmes will be tailored to local demands, focusing on advanced technology and skill development. Meanwhile, NBIRT’s MEPP office has shifted from Dulubari to a new address opposite the CMO office in Ambassa, Dhalai, Tripura.
