Agartala, 3rd February 2026: Sonamura witnessed a deeply distressing incident when a young child was abandoned after his mother allegedly fled with another man.
Family sources informed that the woman left home two days ago, telling relatives she was going out for PRTC work. She never returned. Later, it was learned that she had eloped with another man, leaving behind her little son.
The child’s grandmother has accused the mother of deserting her son at a time when the father has already been in jail for seven years in connection with an accident case. With the father absent, the boy’s only support was his mother—now gone.
The sudden disappearance has left the child devastated. Witnesses say he repeatedly cried out “Ma, Ma” until he fell ill. He is currently undergoing treatment at Sonamura Social Health Centre. Lying on the hospital bed, the boy’s plea—“Ma, I am very sick, please come”—has moved everyone present to tears.
Police have registered a missing case at Sonamura police station and are investigating the matter.
The incident has sparked questions in the community: with the father in prison and the mother gone, has the child’s future been pushed into darkness? Will society find an answer to this painful question?
