Agartala, 3rd February 2026: Allegations of corruption and irregularities have surfaced during the ongoing repair of the rural road stretching from Rangamatia to Durlabh Narayan. Local residents claim that poor monitoring has led to substandard work, prompting widespread dissatisfaction and protests in the area.
The road, which falls under the Sonamura subdivision, covers a distance of approximately 3.87 kilometers. Despite being a one-way rural road, it is heavily used by vehicles on a daily basis. Villagers had long demanded its repair, submitting appeals to local panchayat officials and government departments.
However, residents now allege that the quality of the work is far below expectations. They argue that the repair has been carried out with inferior materials and poor workmanship. Community members are voicing strong protests, insisting that the road must be reconstructed with proper standards to ensure durability and safety.
Local voices emphasize that the demand is not just for completion of the project, but for accountability and quality assurance in public works. The issue has become a focal point of civic concern in Sonamura, with residents pressing for immediate corrective measures.
