Agartala, 6th  February 2026 :  Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today announced that the state government is actively working to strengthen tourism infrastructure by leveraging Tripura’s abundant natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. The initiative aims not only to enhance the state’s tourism appeal but also to generate employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth.

As part of this effort, Sonamukhi in Kailashahar is undergoing significant tourism development with financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project is being implemented under the direct supervision of the Tripura State Tourism Department, ensuring adherence to high standards of planning and execution.

The ambitious Sonamukhi project is designed to transform the area into a major tourism destination. Currently, construction is underway for an adventure park and a range of eco-accommodation facilities, including standard, suite, and deluxe cottages. In addition, administrative buildings, manager and staff quarters, banquet halls, and boundary fencing for the entire project area are also being developed.

Minister Chowdhury emphasized, “Our primary objective is to build a strong and sustainable tourism sector by effectively showcasing Tripura’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.”

On Tuesday, he personally visited the project site to review the progress of ongoing works, accompanied by the Secretary, Director, senior officials, and representatives from the Tourism Department. During the inspection, the Minister was briefed in detail about the current status and directed authorities to ensure timely completion without compromising on quality.

Once completed, the Sonamukhi tourism project is expected to significantly boost Tripura’s tourism potential, provide employment opportunities for local communities, and contribute to the state’s overall economic development.
