Agartala, 9th  February 2026 :   Khumulwng has witnessed a surge in political tension following Chief Minister’s public rally. Allegations have surfaced that, after the rally concluded peacefully, workers of the Tipra Motha vandalized and destroyed BJP’s promotional decorations under the cover of night.

A BJP worker stated that the rally had drawn participation from several tribal communities, with many joining the party. However, within hours of its conclusion, the situation reportedly changed. According to his account, Tipra Motha activists tore down BJP banners, festoons, and other campaign materials late at night. In response, BJP supporters staged protests today, chanting slogans against Tipra Motha, which further fueled unrest in the area.

The BJP has claimed the vandalism was carried out in a planned manner. Party leaders alleged that the incident was driven by political vendetta, creating an atmosphere of fear in the locality. They have demanded immediate identification of the culprits and strict action against them.
