Agartala, 10th February 2026: In yet another major crackdown on narcotics smuggling, authorities recovered a huge consignment of Phensedyl cough syrup from a train parcel van at Agartala’s Badharghat railway station. The seizure, made by Agartala Railway Police and RPF jawans following a tip-off, is estimated to be worth several crores in the black market.
According to officials, multiple sacks of Eskuf syrup bottles were discovered inside the express train’s parcel coach during a late-evening raid. Police cordoned off the entire bogie before unloading the sacks and conducting a thorough search.
While the operation was hailed as a significant success, police have so far refrained from making an official statement, citing that the full inventory of the seized consignment is still being calculated.
This incident comes close on the heels of the Jirania railway station bust, where several individuals were detained. However, investigators have struggled to nab the key masterminds behind the smuggling racket. Sources suggest that influential figures may be involved, making arrests difficult.
