Agartala, 13th February 2026:   The Tripura government has approved the creation and recruitment of 555 posts across several departments, alongside plans to establish new Ayurvedic and Homeopathy medical colleges in the state. The decisions were taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manik Saha, Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury announced today.

Among the key measures, the cabinet sanctioned the appointment of 110 Veterinary Officers under the Animal Resource Development Department through the Tripura Public Service Commission. The Health and Family Welfare Department will also recruit 100 Multi-Purpose Workers — equally divided between male and female candidates — via competitive examination.

In a significant step toward expanding alternative medical education, the cabinet approved the establishment of a 60-seat Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital at Tepania in Gomati district, set to begin from the 2026–27 academic session. A temporary campus will operate from Chandrapur until the permanent facility is ready. Similarly, a 60-seat Homeopathy Medical College and Hospital will be set up at the Netaji Subhas State Home Hospital in Agartala.

Other decisions include filling eight Multi-Tasking Staff posts in the Directorate of Prosecution under the Home Department, enhancing house rent allowance for Tripura State Rifles personnel posted in New Delhi from 24 to 27 per cent effective November 2024, and recruiting seven Lower Division Clerks in the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency. The cabinet also raised the boarding house stipend under the Tribal Welfare Department from ₹80 to ₹100 per day.

In a major boost to the IT sector, 330 new posts will be created under the Tripura Information Technology Service, marking one of the largest expansions of the state’s IT cadre in recent years.

Officials said the measures are expected to strengthen public service delivery, expand healthcare education infrastructure, and generate significant employment opportunities across Tripura.
