Agartala, 15th February 2026: Unakoti District of Tripura made a vibrant mark at the national-level SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2026, held recently in Gurugram, Haryana, with the participation of two dynamic Self-Help Groups (SHGs) — Sunali SHG and Mandira SHG (Sanjog Canteen).
Sunali SHG captivated visitors with their eco-friendly handcrafted products made from kochuri pana (water hyacinth), alongside exquisite handicrafts and designer bags. The creativity, fine finishing, and sustainable approach of their products drew widespread admiration, earning praise from buyers across states.
Mandira SHG (Sanjog Canteen) stole the spotlight at the Food Court with their authentic Tripura Special Thali and traditional Bangoi Chicken. Visitors were delighted by the rich indigenous flavors and homely preparation. Sanjoy Kumar, one of the attendees, lauded the uniqueness and delicious taste of Tripura’s traditional cuisine.
The enthusiastic participation of these SHGs at a prestigious national platform underscores the rich cultural heritage of Tripura and showcases the growing confidence, entrepreneurship, and empowerment of rural women from Unakoti District. Their efforts not only promote sustainable craftsmanship but also bring national recognition to the region’s culinary and artistic traditions.
