Police register case against BJP MLA after media pressure

Agartala, 17th February 2026:  Under mounting media scrutiny, police have finally taken action in a case filed by Ajker Fariad editor Shanit Debroy. The complaint, lodged at AD Nagar Police Station, accuses BJP legislator Ram Prasad Pal and his associates of issuing death threats, staging an unlawful gathering outside the editor’s residence, and attempting to tarnish his reputation.

Based on these allegations, police have registered a formal case against the MLA and his supporters. Officials assured the press that arrests of the accused will begin within the next 24 hours.
