Agartala, 19th February 2026: Authorities have put in place extensive security measures across Agartala in view of the Union Home Minister’s arrival. A senior official from the Government of Tripura stated that additional forces have been deployed at strategic points throughout the city to maintain law and order during the high-profile visit.
During his visit on February 20, the Union Home Minister will participate in the Joint Regional Official Language Conference of the Northern and Eastern Regions. He is also scheduled to stay overnight in the state capital.
On the evening of February 20, he is expected to hold discussions with Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with senior BJP leaders and representatives of alliance partners, including the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and the Tipra Motha Party.
In preparation for the visit, an Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) meeting was convened on February 18 at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport and the Hapania International Fair Ground in Agartala. The meeting focused on ensuring foolproof security arrangements, seamless coordination among departments, and the smooth conduct of all scheduled events.
The ASL meeting was attended by senior civil and police officials, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Key participants included West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, West District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, Additional Superintendent of Police Dhruv Nath, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Parmita Pandey, and Traffic Superintendent Kanta Jangir.
Officials carried out a detailed review of route security, venue protection, traffic regulation strategies, and emergency preparedness measures. With coordinated efforts across departments and heightened vigilance, the administration aims to ensure a secure and incident-free visit of the Union Home Minister to the state.
