Agartala, 23rd  February 2026 :  Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the current government is working with special emphasis on the overall development of the state.

“There is no talk except development for the common people. Our government truly believes in development. However, the opposition does not see the development of the state of Tripura,” he said.

Dr. Saha made these remarks today at the inauguration of the Pond Revival and Beautification Project in Ward No. 43 of Pratapgarh Rishi Colony under the Agartala Municipal Corporation.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Saha said that the foundation stone of the project was laid in March 2024 and that the work was completed within the stipulated time.

“Recently, our Union Home Minister Amit Shah came to Agartala. He participated in a program organized with the aim of promoting and expanding the Hindi language, as well as developing and respecting local languages. About 3,000 representatives from various states of the country, including the North Eastern region, attended. They were very impressed by the development of Tripura. Agartala can be called the Gateway of Tripura,” he said.

In his address, the Chief Minister said that due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy, the North Eastern region, including Tripura, is moving forward in the direction of development.

“The Prime Minister has emphasized the construction of Amrit Sarovars across India. Seventy-five sarovars have been proposed to be built in each district. Tripura has also been given a target. Out of that target, about 682 Amrit Sarovars have been built so far. The main purpose is to maintain the groundwater level. This vision of the Prime Minister is now being observed across India,” he said.

Dr. Saha strongly criticized the role of the opposition on the issue of development.

He said that those opposing the overall development of Tripura refuse to see progress. They are wearing black glasses to avoid seeing development, as if they have cataracts in their eyes.

“For this, they need surgery. In the last one year alone, I have inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects worth more than Rs. 1,300 crore across the state. We have no agenda except development. And this development is for the common people. The Prime Minister says that development should reach the last person in society. Our government is working in that direction,” Dr. Saha said.

He added that the policy of the communists was that the poorer the people, the better, and the more ignorant or uneducated they remained, the better, because educated people ask questions.

“Our government and the Prime Minister want people to be educated, as education leads to socio-economic development and helps the country move forward. Our government is committed to the overall development of women. Therefore, the Prime Minister has emphasized the creation of Lakhpati Didis. For this purpose, we have set a target of creating 1,18,000 Lakhpati Didis in Tripura. So far, we have created 1,08,000 Lakhpati Didis, which is 95 percent of the target,” Dr. Saha said.

Dr. Saha further said, “We have beautified the entire city of Agartala. Not only Agartala, but we are also trying to develop all the cities in the state. Work on the Eastern Ring Road of Agartala has begun, while the Western Ring Road is awaiting approval. Once this ring road is completed, traffic congestion in Agartala city will be reduced.”

The event was attended by Mayor and MLA of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, South Zone Chairman Abhijit Mallick, Urban Development Department Secretary Milind Ramteke, Director Megha Jain, Additional Municipal Commissioner Mihir Gop, social worker Asim Bhattacharya, and other public representatives and eminent persons.
