Agartala, 25th February 2026: The Tripura Legislative Assembly will organize a discussion series and workshop on February 27 at Pragya Bhavan from 9 am onwards, aimed at strengthening and making the democratic process more effective at the grassroots level.
The announcement was made at a press conference held today in the Assembly conference hall.
The press conference was attended by Acting Speaker of the Assembly Ramprasad Pal, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Ratan Lal Nath, Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, and Assembly Secretary Amiya Kanti Nath.
Speaking at the event, Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted that the central theme of the workshop is “Accountability and Responsibility of Public Representatives towards People at All Levels.” He said the workshop has been organized to promote good governance, transparency, and ethics in administrative work, as well as to ensure that public funds are used effectively for the welfare of citizens.
“Democracy is a continuous process,” Minister Nath stated. “It becomes stronger through regular practice and the development of democratic values.” The workshop will focus on enhancing democratic values, accountability, and administrative efficiency among public representatives—from the grassroots level to the Legislative Assembly. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and views. In addition, they will gain insights into Assembly procedures and legal frameworks, preparing them to perform their duties more effectively in the future.
The workshop will be formally inaugurated by Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha will attend as the chief guest, while Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh will deliver the keynote address on parliamentary transparency and accountability.
Other attendees will include members of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, Cabinet ministers, MLAs, representatives of the three-tier Panchayati Raj system, members of TTAADC, municipal corporation and municipality representatives, and public representatives from various levels.
