Agartala, 26th February 2026:   The Tripura government has announced several key initiatives, including the recruitment of 48 government personnel and the launch of “Nari Adalat” in 10 panchayats to address women’s grievances at the village level.

Speaking to the press, Tripura Tourism Minister and Cabinet Spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury outlined the recruitment plans. Under the Revenue Department, six Assistant Survey Officers and ten Revenue Inspectors will be appointed, while 32 Junior Drivers will be recruited under the Health and Family Welfare Department.

Chowdhury clarified that the selection of Assistant Survey Officers and Revenue Inspectors will be conducted through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), whereas the Junior Drivers will be hired directly by the Transport Department.

The Minister also highlighted other cabinet decisions, including an increase in daily stipends for students residing in residential hostels under the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department. The stipend has been raised from ₹80 to ₹100, benefiting 712 students across 33 boys’ hostels, 22 girls’ hostels, and one government-run NGO facility.

In education initiatives, the cabinet approved the opening of free coaching centers to support Tripura students preparing for national-level competitive exams. Coaching for UPSC aspirants will be held at the Birchandra State Central Library in Agartala for 12 months, offering 20 hours of classes per week. SSC, RRB, and IBPS coaching will be available at Government Degree College in Ambassa and Netaji Subhash Government College in Udaipur, with six-month programs offering 24 hours of classes weekly. Admission will be merit-based, and only permanent residents of the state can enroll, with a maximum of 100 students per center.

A significant social welfare initiative is the launch of Nari Adalats under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment as a pilot program in ten panchayats. These village-level courts aim to provide quick judicial resolution for women who face physical abuse, harassment, or other forms of violence. The Social Welfare and Social Education Department will oversee the implementation.

The Nari Adalats will be established in the following areas: Phulbari (North Tripura), Serampur (Unakoti), West Sonatala (Khowai), Lembuchhara (West Tripura), Khedachhara (Sepahijala), Tepania (Gomati), Vivekanandapalli (South Tripura), and Singinala and Halahali (Dhalai). Each court will operate under a nine-member committee that may include respected community members and local political leaders.

These steps aim to strengthen governance, improve educational opportunities, and provide a more accessible judicial mechanism for women in the state.
