Agartala, 27th February 2026:   A decomposed body of an unidentified man was recovered from a jhum field hut near the Khasiya Mangal BSF camp in Teliamura, triggering widespread sensation in the area.

The incident took place in Teliamura under Teliamura, where locals discovered the body hanging inside a hut (tong ghar) located in a jhum cultivation field adjacent to the Khasiya Mangal Border Security Force camp. The deceased was found in a highly decomposed state. According to preliminary police estimates, the man was approximately 50 to 55 years old.

The unidentified individual was wearing a khaki shirt and a blue lungi. While some local residents suspect that the deceased may have been a firewood collector, others believe he could have been a jhum cultivator working in the area.

Upon receiving information, police from Teliamura Police Station rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for further examination. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Nepal Munda of Teliamura Police Station stated that the body appears to be around eight to nine days old. However, several questions remain unanswered—particularly how a person could allegedly hang himself using a gamcha (traditional cloth) while in a seated position inside the hut. It is yet to be determined whether the death was a case of suicide or a planned murder, and clarity is expected only after a detailed investigation.

Notably, the season for clearing jhum land by burning is approaching, and a bundle of dry firewood was found near the body. This has raised further speculation about whether the deceased was a cultivator or had gone there to collect firewood. The exact circumstances surrounding his death remain shrouded in mystery.

Although the discovery has created panic and speculation among locals, the situation is currently under control. Public attention is now focused on the outcome of the police investigation.
