Road accident claims life of youth at Santirbazar

Agartala, 28th February 2026:   A tragic road accident at Santirbazar has claimed the life of a young man, casting a shadow of grief over the local community.

Reportedly, the victim Raju Debnath was on his way to Shantirbazar District Hospital for his night guard duty when the accident took place late last night. Near the BSF camp junction on National Highway 08, his motorcycle collided head-on with a passenger vehicle belonging to a mobile Common Service Center.

Eyewitnesses stated that the impact was so severe that the motorcycle was mangled, and Raju was thrown onto the road, sustaining critical injuries.

Local fire service personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the injured youth, taking him to South Tripura District Hospital at Santirbazar. Doctors described his condition as extremely critical. He was later referred to GB Hospital in Agartala, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Santirbazar police station staff arrived at the site, seized both vehicles involved, and have launched an investigation into the incident.

Today, Raju Debnath’s funeral was held, attended by local MLA Pramod Reang and numerous residents who paid their last respects. The Manu Youth Society and several community groups expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

The tragic accident has left the entire Santirbazar area enveloped in sorrow.
