Agartala, 28th February 2026:   Tripura Police detained two men suspected of crossing the Indo-Bangladesh border illegally during a pre-dawn raid in Tilabazar, Unakoti district. Acting on intelligence, officers from Irani police station registered Case No. 05/2026 under infiltration charges.

Inspector Srikanta Chakraborty stated the suspects initially claimed to be locals from Halair Par village, Chandipur constituency. However, interrogation revealed inconsistencies, and they later admitted to being residents of Sunamganj district in Bangladesh. A questionable Indian PAN card was seized, with verification underway.

Police also detained an electric auto and its driver for questioning, though the driver’s identity remains undisclosed. The suspects are expected to be produced before Kailashahar court, where remand will be sought.

Authorities have tightened border security, coordinating with multiple agencies to prevent further infiltration. The incident has sparked concern in nearby areas, with police promising a thorough probe into possible networks behind the case.
