Agartala, 12th March 2026: Tripura has rolled out a landmark initiative to boost women-led enterprises with the launch of the Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025–2030. The policy was formally unveiled by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma at a state-level programme held at Pragna Bhavan here today.
Calling the policy “a milestone for Tripura’s growth,” Minister Chakma said it would empower aspiring women entrepreneurs and foster a supportive ecosystem for sustainable ventures. “The launch reflects a progressive vision for greater opportunities, support systems, and an enabling environment for women to transform their ideas into successful enterprises,” she noted.
Chakma emphasized that the policy is designed to usher in a new era of women-led development, combining empowerment with economic progress and reinforcing the state’s vision of inclusive growth.
The framework seeks to address persistent challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, including limited access to finance, markets, technology, and institutional support. It aims to encourage women to move from informal livelihood activities to formal, sustainable enterprises, thereby strengthening Tripura’s economic base.
The programme also featured discussions on the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting micro and small-scale industries.
Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte, Tea Development Corporation Chairman Samir Ghosh, and senior departmental officials were present at the event.
