Agartala, 29th March 2026 : Tensions flared today in the Nabanjay para of the Teliamura-Maharanipur constituency as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate faced obstacles while campaigning. The confrontation occurred when BJP candidate Billu Jamatia and Utpal Debbarma of the Tipra Motha Party campaigned in the area alongside their party workers.
At one point, supporters of both parties came face-to-face, leading to mutual sloganeering, including “Go back” chants. Local police quickly intervened, bringing the situation under control. Tipra Motha alleged that BJP supporters, including Zamatia, obstructed their campaign, while the BJP accused Tipra Motha supporters of preventing their campaign activities. No untoward incidents were reported, and police ensured the safe exit of BJP candidate Billu ZJamatia from the area.
