Pradyot Sees TTAADC Polls as Launchpad for Indigenous Chief Minister in 2028

Date:

Agartala, 8th April 2026:  Tipra Motha Party founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Wednesday described this year’s Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections as a pivotal moment for the indigenous community. He said a victory for his party could set the stage for a tribal Chief Minister in the 2028 Assembly elections.

Speaking at massive rallies in Champahour and Ramchandraghat in Khowai District, Pradyot urged voters to make a choice between supporting Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha or standing with their own community.

“BJP has money and party machinery, but we have the strength of our people. Tiprasa will not vote for cash—they will vote for their community,” he said. He also questioned why Village Council elections have not been conducted and criticized the government for publishing its poll manifesto in Roman script while refusing to officially recognize the script for Kokborok.

Pradyot appealed to the youth and local communities to unite on April 12 to safeguard their rights.

“If we had power, we could assert our land rights and show Bangladesh that this is ours. On April 17, raise your voice for the next generation. This election is not just about party politics—it is about protecting the TTAADC. My goal is to reach Agartala in 2028 and ensure the Chief Minister comes from the tribal community. This will only happen if we remain united,” he said.

He also warned party members who have joined or are in touch with the BJP, cautioning that the party will abandon them after the polls. “BJP will betray you. Stay with your community. I don’t want their money or positions—I want land rights, education, direct funding, and benefits for Tiprasa people. If we win, we will have a real chance to elect a Tiprasa Chief Minister in 2028,” he concluded.
