Tripura wildlife sanctuary vandalized, crores in damage

Date:

Agartala, 10th April 2026:   Miscreants have unleashed destruction at the Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, causing extensive damage to government property worth lakhs of rupees. The incident took place in the North Charilam Panchayat area, near Parimal Chowmuhani Bardhepa.

Barely 15 days back, fencing with cement pillars had been installed around parts of the sanctuary. However, last night, unknown individuals demolished nearly 2 to 3 kilometers of the fencing and pillars. The damage was discovered by locals on Friday morning, who promptly informed sanctuary staff.

Officials have since launched an investigation. Many suspect local miscreants may be behind the act, allegedly attempting to encroach upon sanctuary land. Residents have warned that unless strict action is taken, they will raise strong protests against such repeated vandalism.
