Agartala, 6th May 2026: Newly sworn-in Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, Runiel Debbarma, on Wednesday assured that he would focus on the welfare of all people under the council and work toward strengthening development activities by seeking additional financial support from both the state and central governments.
Along with him, Chandra Kumar Debbarma also took oath as an Executive Member (EM) of the council. After assuming office, Runiel Debbarma said he considers the role a significant responsibility and pledged to function in a transparent and development-focused manner.
He added that the council currently operates with limited funds, which makes it necessary to push for enhanced budget allocation.
He said efforts would be made collectively with MDCs, MLAs, and support from Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma to secure additional resources for development works.
Drawing from his earlier experience as an MDC, he noted that he has gained practical understanding of grassroots issues and intends to use that experience in his new role.
He further emphasized inclusive development across all communities in the ADC areas and expressed willingness to work with representatives from different political parties. He also mentioned that the introduction of Roman script in the council would be taken up in a phased manner.
